WORKING IN A BROADER RANGE OF ALIGNER POSSIBILITIES WITH SKELETAL ANCHORAGE

Aligner therapy has evolved during the last 20+ years into offering the possibility to clinicians to treat most kinds of malocclusions. However, there are still some tooth movements that are challenging and less predictable with aligners. The combination of skeletal anchorage (orthodontic mini implants) with aligners increases the predictability and success of the treatment. Mini implants can be used in the beginning, middle or final stage of the treatment, depending on the patients needs. Placement of the tads in the palatal region allows even more discretion of the appliances and does not interfere with the path of tooth movement.

Les traitements par aligneurs ont évolué au cours des 20 dernières années et offrent désormais aux cliniciens la possibilité de traiter la plupart des types de malocclusions. Cependant, certains mouvements dentaires restent difficiles et moins prévisibles avec les gouttières. La combinaison de l’ancrage osseux (mini-implants orthodontiques) avec les gouttières augmente la prévisibilité et le succès du traitement. Les mini-implants peuvent être utilisés au début, au milieu ou à la fin du traitement, en fonction des besoins du patient. Le placement des auxiliaires d’ancrages dans la région palatine permet une plus grande discrétion des appareils sans interférer avec le mouvement des dents.
